Sadly, I am not the most timely cartoonist, but my sin becomes a virtue, if you consider that otherwise such anecdotes as the melting Rudy Giuliani would get lost to time. And if I am already at it, I can also pay hommage to an horror-flic of the seventies. In the November of 2020, after Giuliani became the leader of the legal team of the then-president Donald J. Trump, he made a fool of himself on several occasions. On one of this occasions he melted on camera, just like the astronaut from „The Incredible Melting Man“. But his self-sacrifice was to no avail and as of today Trump still hasn’t paid him.
Don’t trust a statistic, which you didn’t fake yourself, is an old saying. But it’s true: If you watch how statistics are manipulated to benefit a certain argument. And it doesn’t matter if it is a pie chart, a line graph or a bar graph, and it doesn’t matter if it’s about the umemployment rate or some election – nothing is safe!
Is it just me, or does it seem like there are more people on the street, which seem to talk to themselves. But on a closer look, you can see, that they wear a headset. But are these people really normal, if they are doing their business that loud in public.
Like every guy with common sense I find this very irritating.
Many have talked about recession since last year. Even before Corona the German automotive industry was weakening, especially because of the trade war. Many people lost their jobs and even more are afraid to loose their position. Without Corona maybe there would have been a chance to avoid it, but now it is inevitable.
This post is of course about the Khashoggi-case and the strong denial of the arabian government to be responsible for it. As of today the government of saudi-arabia admitted to be responsible for the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi, but it seems that there is no consequence to this, apart the execution of some strawmen. Some will ask if there is any justice, if the law doesn’t apply to everyone. Other states were attacked for less.
It seems, that a certain president can’t say anything, that is not offensive and wrong on every level. For example, some months ago he said, that a group of congresswomen, who talked critically about his politics, should go back to their home countries. When he was citicized for his extremely xenophobic statement, he not only denied an apology, but on the contrary, he stated that the others were racists.
After a little refurnishing with latex and acryl, I present to you the finished mask:
Old face (latex mask) – 1
Old face (latex mask) – 2
Voila! My goal was to stay as close as possible to the original skin tone, but at the same time I tried to highlight the reddened skin, which some old people tend to have. It seems like I overdid it at some parts, but I think I can the satisfied, since this is my first try.

We will have some similiar projects in the near futur. But I don’t want to give too much away. Instead I will return to form with the next post – It’s going to be a caricature again.
Last – but not least – I want to thank Albert Grimm and Alex Grimm again. Without them this porject wouldn’t have been possible.
First we had to make a plaster cast of our model (thanks go to Albert’s brother, AlexTheActor ). To get this, he had to put his face in a quick-setting impression compound for 2 minutes – that was a little problem, but we helped ourselves with a little flexible pipe. The hardened impression was filled with plaster and was left to harden for a day.

Plastercast – 2
On the nose is a little fracture. But that wasn’t so bad, since I had to put clay on it anyway, to form the basis for the silicone-impression. The clay had to be moistened always, since he got cracks while it was drying.

After that i poured with fluid silicone over the model to get a negative for the latex mask. The silicone hardened pretty fast and was solid in about half an hour. The latex on the other hand needed about a week to harden.

Becuse the latex had some bubbles in it, we have to usesome latex and acryl to refurnish it. This will be done together with the painting.

You will see the finished mask on the 17th. novembre.
