Diese Illustration deckt die ersten vier Strophen von Dante Alighieri’s Göttlicher Komödie, einem weiteren klassischen epischen Gedicht des Mittelalters. Dieses Mal bemühte ich mich nicht um eine Übersetzung – der Text ist bekannt genug und wurde in viele Sprachen übersetzt. Und ich dachte eine Übersetzung würde mein Werk nur von der Bezugsquelle abhängig machen. So bin ich also beim Original verblieben.

This illustration covers the first four strophes of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, another classic epic poem from the middle ages. This time I didn’t bother for a translation – the text is known enough and has been translated into many languages. And I thought a translated version would only make my work dated. So I stayed with the original.
